The Approach of Darkness: Negative Sanctification

How can we discern when the force of negative sanctification is at play in our lives?
— David Delt

What is normally viewed as demonic possession can also be viewed as possession by the shadow, repressed energies, and psychological archetypes. This is the rendering of the body as a vessel of fire. "To not integrate that which resides below into the whole psyche is to risk possession by all repressed shadows who seek manifestation and actualization through the members of man." In the essay They Seek Possesion I continue: "Nevertheless, it is important that the management of the entire organism is taken seriously to prevent the unwanted possession of the body by demonic and displaced entities that seek to use our members as vessels to satisfy their own unfulfilled volitions."

Opponents who emerge in our lives are often possessed individuals who express the manifestation of disembodied energies of a sentient and intelligent nature — energies which seek to do us harm. These entities have methods at their disposal to obscure their own mendacities and transgressions, by presenting villains who appear in our lives as angels of light. Through this process, a negative sanctification occurs protecting those whom yield their members to darkness. This negative sanctification is twofold in purpose; to protect those of a sickly nature, often by obscuring their existence within the profanum vulgus, and to preserve these possessed ones as agents of destruction on earth. Division is often a precedent to destruction. Despite the opposition that emerges from the common masses; "We must overcome all resistance in our ethical commitment to create - to be. Walk away from the crowd of beings in the discovery of work and labor leading one to the greatest of all vocations." How can we discern when the force of negative sanctification is at play in our lives? When oppenents who seek to do us harm are protected by seemingly invisible forces, negative sanctification is at hand. This often leads to sickly individuals being exalted as false messiahs.

The Demonic Versus The Daemonic

The protection mechanism of these demonic entities operates mainly through projection. These entities slander the expression of the daemonic and poeitic as the so-called evil second face of the philosopher. The second face is always a threat to those who advocate for the adoption of negative strengths as a sign of health. The philosopher who has bared their second face seeks to consume darkness in a conscious manner, for they are aware of what resides both without and within. This awareness establishes the super-predatory philosopher as the authoritative abolisher of the demonic; for it is only in this mode of being — super predation — where new values can be created.

"When the second face of the philosopher arises, the crowd will always slander that face as demonic. This libel is a projection of their own resentful nature and an attempt to destroy what they could never build." Furthermore: "The human organism is an archive of wisdom waiting to be revealed. We must not neglect the mind nor the body. To command the shadow is to create a new body. A noble physiology and physiognomy are rewards to the lover of the self. The artist must resist desecration of the ideal self. What lies below lurks within. Invite all shadows above the waters of consciousness. All that is daemonic must be unbaptized. Behold, a Christ with hooves."

We must remember, the darkness that never wanes comes as a result of choosing to not create. Poiesis is a creative mode of being that brings something into the world that did not exist before. To simply rely on information to arrive at the truth is to not only reside in darkness, but to be consumed by it. When darkness appears, it should not be simply treated as information to be observed, but as a prompt to create; all that appears without exists within. "The path to yes features a voluntary quest for the horrible elements of our being." The appearance of darkness should always activate the super-predatory impulses of the true philosopher. This leads to an artistic mode of being where opposition and the emergence of darkness is met with a resounding yes. "In this mode of being sublimation emerges as a tool of transformation — the rarest of protective means. It is here we discover the physiological preconditions to the creation of art. This mode of being invigorates the entire organism. It is the activation of all animal functions, leading one to withdraw from a surplus of energy and physicality. As a result, art is born."

The noble amongst us suffer from an abbreviated capacity to repress the horrors of life. These free and noble individuals put away all distractions and choose to stare into the bottomless pit of psyche. Without this great transformation, we would find ourselves deprived of a great enhancement and stimulant to life. The error is always in the attempt to pursue happiness over courage, for when we do transgress so, we prevent a most important discovery. We neglect what dwells beneath. When we commit to fostering a courageous disposition to the trials of life and all opposition, The Path to Yes emerges. We must find a justification for our pain and suffering. There is a suffering which precedes the creation of art. In us lies a visceral drive to create, procreate, along with the capacity to viciously destroy. Be warned, as we move towards abundant life we must resist becoming preachers of death.

The conscious individual is a terrifying entity when we consider the symphony of elements that constitute its moving-in-the-world. We must marvel at the beast that moves about. The Self is often symbolized as an animal — an amalgamation of inner instinct and its relationship with the world in which it resides. The relationship between the outer world and the inner self reveals the soul is composed of that which makeups the entire universe. Make no mistake, the demonic should not be simply reduced to being perceived as an objective entity whom seeks to devour us, nor of a subjective projection of unconscious darkness from within. We often experience what lies below the waters of consciousness as an externality in the form of an opponent. In this case, we often miss the opportunity to view an opponent as it truly is — the reemergence of the fallen king. To protect against this mistake, we must always remember to exalt the shadow over the fallen king. To our benefit, the princely shadow that has been exalted as the authority of the psyche should seek to contend with the appearance of all fallen kings.

"The evil we believe to exist in the world is the unconscious evil that is repressed and ignored within us. We often forget the world is hostile primarily due to the pathological behaviors that have been fostered within our beings. This pathological mode of being opens us up to possession of the evil that we try to bind and cast down. We fall into the trap of casting down all that should be managed and cultivated from within. To worship an idol is the forsake the subject as a co-creator of the universe."

We either are our own worst enemies or simply become whom we hate — all through neglecting to develop the whole self, refusing to move through time and space as super predators, and by worshipping external entities as idols of our own making. "When man approaches Truth as an externality the error of rendering the self invisible is always present. This is often a forced error caused by our psychological and spiritual conditioning administered by cultural overlords to “remember to forget” the self."

It is of utmost importance that the philosopher avoids hubris, and takes all opponents seriously, for darkness always appears to reveal a hidden thing. To refuse to engage with an angel of light in a duel to the finish is to invite total death. We must accept the dialectic relationship between friend and foe. "The philosopher cannot alter the nature of Truth in an effort to make it more palatable. Since Truth is often damaging and destructive — one must gird their loins to withstand the barrage of what is right and beautiful." We must utilize our faculty of reason, for “reason as an active capacity makes the world apprehensible — for reasonable beings, the world is not merely an other, but exists as an availability. The sovereign disposition of the philosopher is a great tool in grasping all that is available, for it is sovereignty which encompasses the self and all others." Furthermore, “in freedom, offense and defense must always be in balance, for one must develop and protect the self at all times. The Truth should be acted out as risk. We embody the Truth as process, not simply as a conceptual abstraction."

When demons emerge as opponents, move forward en échelon; victory over an opponent is often an activation and reclamation of the self.

The error is always in the attempt to pursue happiness over courage.
